SHOWKIDZ is the brainchild of a Melbourne working mother with professional backgrounds in teaching, music, drama, dance and sound production and experience of managing shows as diverse as school productions, major fashion shows and corporate functions. Now in its 16th successful year of operation.
As a parent I firmly believe in the happiness generated by music, the confidence building benefits of performing live on stage and the importance of having fun. It is also my firm conviction that cultural awareness, dramatic abilities and confidence enhance success and enjoyment not only in the performing community, but in every walk of life.
Our activities promote creativity and self esteem for the students and the teachers in an atmosphere of trust and friendship.
With this in mind I have created FUN WORKSHOPS, a 2 day workshop which offers all children no matter how timid the opportunity to shine.

We at Showkidz like to promote more than just
THE LOOK.
It’s about CONFIDENCE, CHARACTER and CHARISMA.

CONFIDENCE is one of the most important life skills a child can posess.
That is why the SHOWKIDZ Modelling course is great - not only structured for fashion parades and the essential skills needed to be part of an exciting industry - but more importantly - it creates such an air of confidence in children that is second to none.

                                   The workshops run for 2 full days (weekends) and include:

                                                      * live fashion show
                                                      * deportment
                                                      * confidence building
                                                      * And LOTS OF FUN.....

We will be working towards a common goal - that is a big fashion parade, whether it be
at a specific venue or in one of Melbourne’s Shopping Centres.
Showkidz has been conducting children’s fashion parades in shopping centres since it began in 1993.

MUSICAL THEATRE

Showkidz students are trained in acting and performing for stage. The Showkidz Musical theatre curriculum is based on the works of the Great Masters of Music, Dance,
Literature, Art and Theatre. The students experience this through age appropriate activities, such as, singing, dancing, drama and creative movement to classical and modern music.
Students will be working towards a live performance which will incorporate a scene from a popular stage show (Grease, West Side Story, Annie, Wizard of Oz etc) followed by the musical number which will be dance choreographed.
This course is a wonderful way to introduce students to the wonderful world of stage and Musical Theatre.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop dance is one of today’s most popular dance styles - allowing any aged student to benefit from the style that does not require classical or formal training. It is a fun energetic sometime lyrical expression of dance that is mostly used in music video clips.
Students will work on presenting a hip hop routine that will encompass, break dancing, popping, locking and beat boy/girl.

ACTING TV/FILM

I don’t not need to tell you the benefits of Drama, research reveals the positive impact of Drama on a child’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. Children of all ages like to pretend, to enter world’s of imagination. As toddlers they mimic things they see in everyday life. By pre-school age they act out stories, creating original plots or adapting fairy tales or real life events.
By middle school they are ready for more play acting, going on stage to present prepared scripts, whether scenes from classics or their own inventions. In other words each stage of childhood has its own forms of drama and all these forms help children learn and grow.
The Showkidz 2 Day Acting course encompasses the following:
Improvisation, characterisation, script analysis, monologues, voice, movement, and camera skills. At the end of 2 Days we will view a short film that the students will have worked on.

CHEERLEADING

Cheerleading is a sport that no longer is about a group of girls standing on the sidelines shaking their poms. It is a sport that requires lots of energy, increases your fitness , develops discipline and introduces students to acrobatics.
This 2 Day course introduces students to :
Cheers, dance, Pom Pom use, tumbles and heaps of fun. The students will perform a cheer based around their school sports team.
